Choosing a course

Why we don't promise you a job

Every training company in India is promising placement. Here is why we refuse to, what we do commit to instead, and how to tell the difference when you are comparing courses.

If you have spent an evening comparing tech courses in India, you have seen the same three promises on almost every page. We make none of them: not a job guarantee, not 100% placement, not assured employment. Sometimes those come with an asterisk, usually without.

That is not because we are less confident than the next institute. It is because we have read what the promise actually costs the person who believes it.

What the promise usually means

A guarantee has to be enforceable to mean anything, and the moment you look for the enforcement you find the conditions. The commonly used ones are worth knowing by name, because they appear in contracts you will be asked to sign:

  • Attendance floors. Below 90% or 95% attendance, the guarantee lapses. A fortnight of illness can end it.
  • "Any offer" clauses. The guarantee is satisfied by an offer, not a relevant one, at any salary, in any city, in any role. Decline it and the obligation is discharged.
  • Interview quotas. You must attend every interview arranged. Miss two and you have opted out.
  • Assessment gates. You must clear internal tests at a threshold the institute sets and can revise.
  • Time windows. The guarantee expires six or twelve months after you finish, which is often before you are ready.

None of those clauses is dishonest on its own. Taken together they describe something quite different from what the headline said: not a guarantee of employment, but a guarantee of activity, with a long list of ways for the obligation to end. The word doing the work on the landing page is not doing any work in the contract.

There is a second cost, and it is the one we care about more. A guarantee changes who is responsible for your outcome. It invites you to stop asking whether the training is any good, because the promise appears to cover you either way. That is precisely the wrong posture for the eighteen months in which you are actually going to become employable.

What we commit to instead

We commit to specific, checkable things. Each of these is either already on this site or something you can ask us to show you before you pay:

A written curriculum, published day by day. 84 numbered days on the Tech Track, 55 on Creative + AI. Not a video playlist — a written plan for every day, with what you should be able to do by the end of it. You can look at the structure before you enrol.

Work that a person marks. 23 graded projects, each read by a mentor who writes back. Work can be returned for revision rather than just scored, because the point is that you fix it. A rubric you can see is worth more than a certificate you cannot.

A named mentor. One human being who knows your name, your track and where you are stuck, plus live classes and a check-in every fortnight. When you are 40 days into something hard, this is the thing that decides whether you continue.

A readiness score with published weights. We measure how prepared you are and we show you the formula. It deliberately excludes AI mock interviews, so it cannot be inflated by practising against a machine. If your score is low, we would rather tell you that than send you into an interview.

Placement assistance, described accurately. We prepare you, we help with your CV and portfolio, we introduce you where we can, and we keep supporting you for up to six months after your programme ends. Career outcomes depend on your effort, your attendance and your performance. We do not guarantee employment, and no one honest can.

A certificate a stranger can verify. Issued only when every lesson is complete and every quiz passed — not on payment, not on attendance. Anyone can check it against our records without contacting us.

How to compare courses properly

If you are weighing us against another institute, ignore the headline number on both pages and ask these instead. The answers are more informative than any placement percentage:

  1. Can I see the curriculum before I pay? Day by day, not a syllabus PDF of module titles.
  2. Who marks my work, and can I see their feedback on someone else's project? If nothing is marked by a human, nothing is being taught — it is being broadcast.
  3. What exactly does your guarantee require of me? Ask for the clauses in writing. Read the attendance floor and the "any offer" clause specifically.
  4. What is your refund policy if I leave in week three? This tells you how the business actually makes money.
  5. How many people from the last cohort are working today, and can I speak to two of them? Not a percentage. Two names.
  6. What does your placement number count? Internships? Unpaid roles? Roles unrelated to the training? Students who found their own job?

Question 6 is where most placement percentages come apart. A number with no definition behind it is not a statistic, it is a decoration.

Where we actually are

We should say this plainly, because you can check it and you would rightly distrust us if you found out later: our first cohorts are still in training. We do not have a placement record yet, and any figure we published today would be an invention.

What we have instead is the training system described above, built and running, and a policy of not publishing a number until it is real and defined. When we do have outcomes, we will publish what the figure counts alongside the figure itself.

If a placement percentage is the thing that decides your choice, an institute with a longer history may suit you better — and asking them question 6 is still the most useful thing you can do. If what decides it is whether the teaching is any good and whether a person will actually help you, look at the curriculum and talk to a mentor.
